INternship Description

8 x 10 paper negative portrait made by 2024 Spring intern Alexander Toms to promote Memberships and workspaces on social media

Aurora’s paid internship program supplements coursework in the fine arts or arts administration at an accredited college or university, providing real-life experience in the gallery + workspace environment in preparation for a career or further study in the arts.

Aurora offers three internships throughout the year, Spring, Summer, and Fall, working with Director Mary Goodwin:

* Each internship lasts approximately 17 weeks.

* Interns are required to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week for the duration of the internship, with at least one work day per week in-person at the Aurora gallery + workspace.

* A stipend of $2,000 will be paid to the intern, $1,000 due after the first half of the internship and the second half of the stipend upon the internship’s completion.

* Priority will be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in fine arts or arts administration coursework.

* BIPOC students of the fine arts or arts administration strongly encouraged to apply.

Each internship is tailored to the intern’s interest and needs and will include both short-term projects as well as one long-term project that lasts the duration of the internship. Depending on demonstrated skill, interns may be asked to perform some tasks in the digital lab. After acceptance, we will develop a weekly plan for the internship.

Some short-term projects for past interns have included:

* Installing/de-installing exhibitions
* Assisting at First Friday events and workshops
* Documenting openings, workshops, artist visits, and special events
* Producing marketing and promotional interviews and other videos
