Black-and-White Darkroom • $15 per hour, Includes Basic Chemistry

Our well-ventilated black-and-white darkroom is set up for a single user, so it’s all yours during your rental time. Get lost in the darkroom and let your creativity come alive.

Basic knowledge of black-and-white film development and printing assumed for our DIY darkroom. All basic chemistry and equipment is included in the price of the rental.

Equipment includes:

* Metal and plastic reels (35-120mm), dunk holders and tank (4 x 5), trays (4 x 5 and larger)
• 4 × 5 Beseler enlarger with multi-grade filters (wheelchair accessible)
* Tray processing up to 20 x 24 inches
• Archival print washer and drying racks

Digital Imaging Area • $15 per hour

Our digital imaging area is set up for a single user. Basic knowledge of digital imaging tools and workflow assumed for our DIY work area. For printing, members can bring their own paper or choose from Aurora’s available papers.

Equipment includes:

* M2 Mac Mini
* Color-calibrated 27” Apple Studio Display
* Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro and Bridge
* Epson V850 flatbed scanner
* Canon Pro 1000 (prints up to 17 x 22”)
* Color managed workflow and custom paper profiles for stocked papers
* Daylight balanced viewing area

DIY Archival Inkjet Printing

For printing on Aurora’s Canon Pro 1000 (up to 17 x 22”), members can bring their own paper or choose from Aurora’s available papers, which include Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305 and Moab Entrada Rag 300.

Prints are billed by final paper size using the following calculation:

(Height x Width) x (Sq. in. price) = Cost of print

* Paper provided: $0.09 / Sq. in.
* Client provided paper: $0.05 / Sq. in.

Finishing Area

Equipment includes:

* Large work area with cutting mat, straight edge, and blades (wheelchair accessible)

* Flat files up to 30 x 40

Misuse or damage to the facility or equipment, use of unapproved or dangerous chemicals or materials, or violations of Aurora’s Code of Conduct will be addressed immediately and could result in revoking of membership.
