SEEKING PART-TIME GALLERY ASSISTANT
Aurora PhotoCenter, an Indianapolis nonprofit, supports visual artists working in photography through exhibitions, residencies, workshops, artist talks, and access to creative tools. Aurora is the only nonprofit of its type in Indiana that hosts continuous photography programming throughout the year; Aurora has the only rentable analog darkroom and digital imaging lab in Indianapolis.
We seek a Part-Time Gallery Assistant to provide support in the galleries and labs.
Job Title: Part-Time Gallery Assistant
Job Category: Part-time, non-exempt
Location: 1125 E Brookside Avenue, Suite C9, Indianapolis, IN, 46202
Regular Business Hours: Thursday-Sunday, 11am-5pm
Pay: $20 per hour
Hours: Approximately 5-10 hours per week, primarily on Friday and/or Saturday

Role and Responsibilities

Required duties include:
* Open and close facility
* Greet visitors and provide them with context for the exhibitions and information about Aurora’s programming
* Mix chemistry and set up for members renting darkroom
* Assist and troubleshoot basic scanning and printing questions for members
Qualifications and Requirements
* 18+ years of age
* Has experience as a professional greeter and working with the public
* Is interested in contemporary photography
* Enjoys working with a diversity of makers and types of photography
* Works well with others and also independently
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* Has previous knowledge and experience with darkroom and digital practice
* Aurora offers training in black and white film development, color film development, back and white printing, basic scanning, and basic digital printing for those without previous experience
* Previous experience presenting artist and context information about photography, either in the classroom or gallery setting; Aurora offers training and scripting for presenting artwork for whose without previous experience
