Period of Internship: January 2-April 24, 2026
Location: Aurora PhotoCenter, Factory Arts District,
1125 East Brookside Avenue, Suite C9, Indianapolis, 46202

Internship Stipend: $2,000

Aurora PhotoCenter seeks candidates for the 2026 Aurora PhotoCenter Spring Internship.

Aurora PhotoCenter is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that supports visual artists working in photography through a full program of exhibitions, residencies, workshops, artist talks, and access to creative tools, including our darkroom and digital lab.

We seek an intern to work with Founding Director Mary Goodwin in the gallery + workspace environment. For the Spring Internship, from January 2-April 24, 2026, priority consideration will be given to applicants currently enrolled in coursework in the fine arts or arts administration at an accredited college or university; recent graduates and those with applicable experience should also apply. There is no fee to apply.

Strong interest in and knowledge of analog and digital photography, exhibitions, workshops, and events a plus. The Intern must be reliable and capable of working independently. The intern will be required to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week for the duration of the internship and will be responsible for tracking their activities and hours. The intern must be available to attend all First Friday events during the internship, which include January 2, February 6, march 6, and April 3, 2026, from 6-9pm.

A stipend of $2,000 will be paid to the intern, $1,000 due after the first half of the internship and the second half of the stipend upon the internship’s completion.

We can tailor the internship to the intern’s interest and needs. Some core projects for Aurora’s Spring Intern could include:

* Install and deinstall of Aurora’s Spring exhibitions
* Assist at openings and events, including workshops
* Document exhibitions, openings, workshops, artist visits, and special events
* Tutor new members on film development and printing in the darkroom and digital lab
* Produce marketing and promotional interviews and other videos
* Gallery/workspace sitting and attending
* General cleaning (once per month and as needed)
* Assist visiting artists and residents
* Catalog donations

We also ask that the intern undertake one long-term project to be completed over the course of the internship. We will work with the intern to identify and plan this project. Past interns have done the following long-term projects; the Spring Intern will work with Mary Goodwin to develop a new long-term project:

* Creating a searchable online database for the photobook library
* Building a spent-silver filter for the black-and-white darkroom
* Creating a social media calendar for Aurora
* Resetting all gallery lights to consistent color temperature
* Researching new equipment for the lab

To apply, by December 5, please send a current resume and a statement of goals/plans for the internship to
