In April 2026, photographer Jason Lee spent 10 days photographing Indianapolis inside the I-465 beltway. The result is the series Circle City, a unique collective view on our city. From The Pyramids to The Speedrome, from abandoned malls to anonymous alleyways, Lee’s look at Indianapolis is both fresh and timeless. On view in this Aurora exhibition for the first time, Circle City will also be published as a book in 2027 in collaboration with Taylor Galloway.

A native of Southern California, Jason Lee is a photographer, director, and actor. Having established a successful career as a professional skateboarder in the late 80s and early 90s, he went on to pursue a career in acting, which would lead to working in film, television, and voiceover. In 2001, Jason developed a passion for photography and dedicated himself to pursuing the medium as a creative profession. His work is known for capturing the quiet, forgotten landscapes of America, often depicting the back roads, wherever he finds those. Jason’s published books include A Plain View from 2018, In the Gold Dust Rush from 2020, and 2025’s Democratic Vistas in collaboration with Tim Carpenter and published by SMOG Press.
