Aurora PhotoCenter is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that supports visual artists working in photography through a full program of exhibitions, residencies, workshops, artist talks, and access to creative tools.

We seek an intern to work with Founding Director Mary Goodwin in the gallery + workspace environment. For the Summer internship, from May 16-August 30, 2024, priority consideration will be given to applicants currently enrolled in coursework in the fine arts or arts administration at an accredited college or university. Strong interest in and knowledge of analog and digital photography, exhibitions, workshops, and events a plus.

The Intern must be reliable and capable of working independently. The intern will be required to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week for the duration of the internship and will be responsible for tracking their activities and hours.

A stipend of $2,000 will be paid to the intern, $1,000 due after the first half of the internship and the second half of the stipend upon the internship’s completion.

We can tailor the internship to the intern’s interest and needs. Some core projects for Aurora’s Summer Intern could include:

* Plan and man openings and events, including Aurora’s 5th Anniversary Celebration in June 2024

We also ask that the intern undertake one long-term project to be completed over the course of the internship. We will work with the intern to identify and plan this project. Examples of such a long-term project include:

* Creating a searchable online database for the photobook library
* Building a silver filter for the black-and-white darkroom
